gusto ko mag-attend ng geekfight

winged-fishbone ::

tapos tinignan ko yung mga questions sa facebook

‘tang na loob kokonti lang nasagot ko.

Kaya mo yan! May learning curve naman talaga e. Besides, that’s why I chose a team-based set-up. You’ll have up to seven other people to help fill in the gaps in your own knowledge.

If nothing else, it’s usually a fun experience, as some of the other GeekFight regulars here on Tumblr can assure you.

I own 13 wigs but I’m not a drag queen.

callmemrpeerpressured ::

I’m a cosplayer. A pretty lame one, but a cosplayer none the less.

However, I love wigs. I want to buy more. I can’t explain why, I just do. I just wish I could find another reason other than cosplaying to wear them out.

Tonight’s GeekFight “prom”, The John Hughes Memorial Trivia Quiz and Dance, seems like as good an excuse to wig out as any. 9PM TONIGHT, at Mag:net Cafe, Bonifacio High Street. [/shameless plugging]

You are cordially invited to the first ever GeekFight Prom on Friday, the 12th of February, at Mag:net Bonifacio High Street. This is no ordinary Away League game; it will be a complete faux prom, with decor, voting for King and Queen, a photo area, the works! It’s a full quiz wrapping up by 1AM, followed by an hour of live music and dancing with Shoulder State.Here are the categories for the night:
Round 1: Battle Royale (Geek IQ)Round 2: In Between Days (“Teen stuff”)Round 3: Our Noise (Music)Round 4: Gender Trouble (LGBT culture)Round 5: Love Connection (Couples)Round 6: Bodies in Motion (Dance)Round 7: Northern Exposure (Scandinaviana)Round 8: Battle Royale… With Cheese! (Geek IQ)
* Entrance will be P150 for those who are not dressed for the occasion (killjoys!), and P100 for those wearing prom attire. (Suit up!) Both tickets are inclusive of one drink.* We can have up to 12 teams with a maximum of 8 players per group.* All guests pay entrance, regardless of whether or not you join the quiz.* Main prize TBA, but the winning team also gets a very special BACON-related treat. (No, I don’t know how that’s supposed to fit with the prom theme either, so don’t ask.)
* RSVP here.

No doubt, some of you must be speculating about what constitutes “fitting attire” for our GeekFight Prom on Friday. Well, guess no more!

As usual, the Americans have already set a precedent for us to follow. (Now aren’t we lucky!)

Here are some portraits taken during the annual Midwest Geek Prom held every year since 2002 in Duluth, MN (of all places).

This ought to give you an idea of the kind of possible outfits that would qualify you for the lower entrance fee (and more importantly, make the event a more lively and carnivalesque occasion).

Do I Got A Pixelated Heart? →

Adam David (The El Bimbo Variations) offers some tech-related Valentine’s gift ideas on The POC’s Lintech! blog. A sample of his unerring wisdom:

A portable LCD projector – Take the cinematic experience into your living room by hooking up your DVD player and stereo sound system to a portable LCD projector! Watch the new Star Trek movie by JJ Abrams in high-definition visuals as wide as your house’s wall! Celebrate the entire Valentines Day together by staying in bed on a Dollhouse Season Two marathon! Play an entire tournament of Wii Tennis as a doubles team or even as rivals and have your game projected onto the wall so big it’s almost virtual reality! You can even rewatch old home movies you made together – or maybe even make a new one *wink-wink* - and reexperience the moments as if they were really happening in front of you.
