gusto ko mag-attend ng geekfight
winged-fishbone ::
tapos tinignan ko yung mga questions sa facebook
‘tang na loob kokonti lang nasagot ko.
Kaya mo yan! May learning curve naman talaga e. Besides, that’s why I chose a team-based set-up. You’ll have up to seven other people to help fill in the gaps in your own knowledge.
If nothing else, it’s usually a fun experience, as some of the other GeekFight regulars...

I own 13 wigs but I'm not a drag queen.
callmemrpeerpressured ::
I’m a cosplayer. A pretty lame one, but a cosplayer none the less.
However, I love wigs. I want to buy more. I can’t explain why, I just do. I just wish I could find another reason other than cosplaying to wear them out.
Tonight’s GeekFight “prom”, The John Hughes Memorial Trivia Quiz and Dance, seems like as good an excuse to wig out as any. 9PM...

Do I Got A Pixelated Heart? →
Adam David (The El Bimbo Variations) offers some tech-related Valentine’s gift ideas on The POC’s Lintech! blog. A sample of his unerring wisdom:
A portable LCD projector – Take the cinematic experience into your living room by hooking up your DVD player and stereo sound system to a portable LCD projector! Watch the new Star Trek movie by JJ Abrams in high-definition visuals as wide...

Are You Compatible With Batman? →
via @helloluis on Twitter ::
This Valentine’s Day, what you really need to ask yourself is: Am I compatible with Batman?

Some things that made me go ‘ahhh’ and ‘WAT’ after GeekFight
Sleepyhead (Passion Pit song) was covered by The Mummers
That cover is actually by Manchester twee folk ensemble Run Toto Run.

Scientists grow pork meat in a laboratory. →
via baddie ::
I swear I’ve seen this in a movie before. It caused the zombie apocalypse.
Dear Science,
Friendship over, asshole!
Sincerely Yours, The Ranching Industry
Kidding aside, if this ever reaches safety levels approved by (US) FDA standards, the ecological implications are boundless.
Of course, none of this will matter, if it doesn’t get popular acceptance in the...

Are You Otaku?
Evidently, i’m not, if this test via materiagirl is any indication. (I still don’t get it.) Otaku FAIL. More images behind the cut.
Do you see what they see?

Nerdish By Nature
I decided the rap accompanying the Nerdish By Nature shirt design is probably worth a reblog of its own. Even cornier jokes about lab research and getting tenure behind the cut.
Life Ain’t Nuttin But Moles And Joules Hey, yo, DJ, drop a funky Beryllium Astatine solution! I’m hard like carbon when properly arranged I’m like Musca domestica just livin’ for today I come down like temperature in...

The Defense Says -- on the Anti-Hentai law
via materiagirl ::
I chatted a law school student up about this, and he had this to say —
A: Although it can be argued that it’s the depiction, the visual representation, that should be looked at in such instances.
Mii: But then that’s still flimsy, isn’t it? So if I dress up as a 15 year old character and do naughty photoshoots, that’s an offense?
A: Nope. Because in reality, you’re not a...

Are You Intelligent Or Just Intellectual? →
Russel Bishop (The Huffington Post) ::
Imagine that you want to learn a language. The intellectual approach might be to read a bunch of books about the language while an intelligent approach might be to hang out with people who actually speak the language. The intellectual approach may result in someone who knows all the rules of grammar but who is incapable of actually carrying on a conversation....

The Geek Identity Debate Redux
materiagirl on the social Venn diagram ::
Oh dear, I think I lie in the Hipster part of the diagram.
I’m more traditional with my definitions of geek and nerd - ‘geek’ for particular interests, ‘nerd’ for hardcore academics.
Of interest, google has these two hits —
geek -
a carnival performer who does disgusting acts
eccentric: a person with an unusual or odd personality ...
