Anti Hentai Bill… now a Law

via zeppbox :: magnetic_rose ::

Arroyo signs anti-child porn bill into law

The law defines child pornography as “any representation, be in visual, audio or written, combination thereof, by electronic, mechanical, digital, optical, magnetic or other means, of a child engaged in real or simulated explicit sexual activities.”

Any person who produces, distributes, publishes and commits other related acts would also be subject to penalties. Violators may include internet service providers and internet content hosts.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m anti-child exploitation and pornography. But what of depictions WITH obviously fictional characters? I want to see the clause for that. I heard of a hentai that showed a lolita-ish character that was said to be 200 years old. Does that count as an offense?

Also, good luck defending this, senate maderpaders! The internet has ways! And you have more than a few sleazeballs in your own ranks, you hypocritical asses.

First of all, a quick reminder: Rep. Romeo Jalosjos was freed in March. Just thought I should point that out.

Lolicontent isn’t even the most obvious test case: what about the book it takes its name from? Let’s see if Nabokov gets pulled from the shelves, before we start asking for extra clauses in the law.

Miya is absolutely right though: the law is meaningless without effective enforcement. I’d like to find out how exactly they plan to crack down on offenders. Maybe they could bring in this guy to train a specialized PNP task force.

Oh, and I hear Pedobear has called for diplomatic sanctions with the RP. Interesting times ahead…
